Rocket’s touchscreen halls of fame have become a beacon of inspiration, honoring the achievements of students across the country. Here are some of the notable names who have found a place in Rocket's interactive displays.
Many football fans have heard of the video game Madden. The video game is named after John Madden, who is a member of one of Rocket’s touchscreen hall of fame. Madden is featured in Northwest Athletic Conference’s notable alumni folder on their site due to being a former football player at Grays Harbor College. The page goes into extensive detail on Madden’s professional football coaching career and his life as a broadcaster. This site clearly depicts the essence of football legend, John Madden.
Some may recognize the name Sam Elliot from countless Western themed television shows and movies. Like Madden, Elliot is featured in Northwest Athletic Conference’s notable alumni subcategory for being an alum at Clark College. While he was not an athlete at the school, he made his mark by participating in school plays, which would eventually help him in his career, from which he has been an Academy Award, Golden Globe Awards, and much more.
Before becoming the PAC-10 Newcomer of the Year for his time at the University of Southern California, Brian Scalabrine was making his mark at Highline College. Due to this Scalabrine earned his spot in Northwest Athletic Conference’s virtual hall of fame for also being a notable alumni. After his collegiate career Scalabrine went on to the NBA where he played for the New Jersey Nets, Boston Celtics, where he won a championship, and Chicago Bulls. Currently, Scalabrine is a television analyst for the Celtics.
The fourth and final member of Northwest Athletic Conference’s digital recognition system for this article is Jeffrey D. Morgan. Known for his role on the hit television series, The Walking Dead, Morgan has grown quite the career since leaving Skagit Valley College. Like the other Northwest Athletic Conference alum, Morgan is also featured in their notable alumni folder. Before suffering a serious injury, Morgan played on the school’s basketball team. While his playing career ended early, Northwest Athletic Conference gets to properly honor his work with their touchscreen technology.
A staple in the New England college hockey world, Hilary Witt made a strong impact during her playing career at Northeastern University. Witt is known to be one of the most prolific scorers in Northeastern ice hockey history. Part of her athletic resume is being part of the United States National Team, which won silver. After switching her focus to coaching, Witt was named ECAC Coach of the Year while being the head coach for Yale’s women ice hockey team. Currently, she is the University of New Hampshire’s women’s ice hockey coach. Due to all of her success Witt has earned her spot in Northeastern's virtual hall of fame.
Another New England icon, former Red Sox player, Tim Wakefield is honored in Florida Tech’s hall of fame. Wakefield played baseball for Florida Tech before getting drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1988. Wakefield made his MLB debut in 1992. Three years later Wakefield was signed by the Red Sox and would go on to play 17 for the Boston team. He was known for his knuckleball pitch and was part of the 2004 World Series championship team. Florida Tech’s usage of the virtual award platform is able to showcase the impact Wakefield made in his collegiate and professional baseball career.
For almost four decades Michael Beach has been gracing television screens for numerous different series. However, before that, he was an exemplary student at the Nobles and Greenough School. Throughout his time he participated in classmates’ movies and school productions. He did so well he won an award of excellence in performing arts at his graduation. Due to all of this Nobles honored Beach with the Distinguished Graduate Award in 2023. This is featured on Nobles digital recognition platform that pays tribute to their alumni.
